New businesses and employment
The MRC of Memphremagog has welcomed 6 new manufacturing businesses throughout the year 2008. Investments relating to these new ventures are totaling $1 280 000 and have generated 75 new jobs in 2008.
In 2008, 8 companies have closed down, leaving a loss of 844 occupations.
In 2008, we show a loss of 907 jobs in the manufacturing sector for the territory of the MRC. There are currently 4 239 jobs in the region.
The MRC experiences a net loss of 1 875 industrial occupations since 1999. This is a decrease of 30 % over 1999 and a decrease of 17.6 % over the preceding year, 2007.
